FSAI Kolkata Chapter successfully conducted a Hospital Evacuation Drill along with a Fire & Safety Awareness Session at Priyamvada Birla Institute of Nursing, a unit of Belle Vue Clinic.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Sekhar Dey, Mr. Chinmay Chattopadhyay, Mr. Samar Mondal, and Ms. Swati Dhar, and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 150 attendees, including nursing professionals, first responders, professors, and representatives from various hospitals.
The session commenced with Ms. Swati Dhar introducing FSAI and its mission in promoting fire and life safety awareness. Mr. Sekhar Dey and Mr. Chinmay Chattopadhyay then explained the fundamentals of fire, the fire triangle, methods of extinguishment, common hospital fire hazards, and the importance of systematic patient evacuation during emergencies.
Following the awareness session, Mr. Samar Mondal conducted an engaging tabletop demonstration on the effective use of fire extinguishers and demonstrated safe patient evacuation techniques using a model casualty. The practical evacuation drill provided participants with valuable hands-on learning, enhancing their emergency preparedness and reinforcing the critical importance of fire safety in healthcare institutions.
